More recently, our travels brought us to the iconic streets of Hollywood Boulevard where we had the opportunity to shoot the red carpet premiere of Linsanity the movie, a documentary following the incredible underdog story of Jeremy Lin and his journeys on and off the basketball court.
We were actually just Los Angeles several weeks earlier on another shoot with Verizon. We were covering KCON 2013, a two day Korean Pop music convention of epic proportions, which is where we first heard of the possibility of shooting the Linsanity premier. Naturally, we couldn’t be more excited about potentially getting to interview and meet Jeremy Lin himself!
Just like that, we found ourselves on a plane to LA again just a month later, sleepy eyed but excitedly preparing for our Linsanity adventures to begin! Our entire studio was able to travel down and stay in Little Tokyo. We would encourage anyone to check out this lovely and incredibly walk-able spot and dine on some of the delicious foods they have available all crammed into the space of a few city blocks: sushi, boba, ramen!
The red carpet event and movie screening were both held at the TCL Chinese Theater while the Roosevelt Hotel hosted the after party, where we were later able to meet Jeremy Lin during a meet and greet. Even in just those few minutes, Jeremy's poise, kindness, and humble demeanor really shined through. We were able to see that earlier in the evening as well, specifically during the red carpet, where he treated each interviewer with respect and gave honest and forthright answers, never failing to bring attention to and give thanks to God, his family, and his friends. Truly an inspiration individual.
For the red carpet event, we had the privilege of working with online and television personality Ally Maki who rocked it on the floor and was an absolute joy to work with. The whole interior of the TCL was decked out in Linsanity posters and branding, looking like something straight out of a Sports Center highlight in February of the previous year. Looking back to 2012, we still remember when Linsanity really took off with Jeremy's consecutive outstanding performances with the New York Knicks garnering worldwide attention, combating racial stereotypes, and earning him a special place in countless fans' hearts. For us to shoot on the red carpet, meet and interview so many amazing people, and just be present in the atmosphere of the entire event itself was an incredible experience.
For an inside look at some of the footage we captured at the event, be sure to check out our Fall BTS video! We’ll be sure to keep you guys updated here on the latest happening with the studio!
Until next time,
